This site collects one thing: anonymous statistics about which pages get read. Nothing else, and nothing that identifies you. The rest of this page says exactly what that means.
What I do not do
- No advertising or remarketing tags. The analytics described below measure page views; they are not connected to any ad product and build no profile of you.
- No advertising, and nothing on this site is sold, shared, or handed to a data broker.
- The only cookies are the two the analytics below set. WordPress itself sets cookies only for people who log in, which is me.
- No fonts from a content delivery network. The typefaces are served from this domain, so no font host learns that you visited.
- No embedded videos, maps, comment widgets, or social scripts. Links to GitHub, LinkedIn, X, Instagram and WordPress.org are ordinary links — nothing loads from those sites until you click.
The analytics
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count page views. It tells me which writing gets read and which does not. That is the entire reason it is here.
What it records: the page you are on, the page that sent you here, and general facts about your device — browser, operating system, screen size, and an approximate location worked out from your network. Google states that Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses. Nothing here asks for your name, your email, or anything you have to type.
Two cookies make this work, named _ga and _ga followed by the property ID. They hold a random identifier so a second page view is not counted as a second person. They expire after two years, and they are the only cookies this site sets for a reader.
The script comes from googletagmanager.com and the measurements go to Google, which processes them on my behalf and under its own terms. That makes Google the one outside party involved in your visit, and the only request this site makes to a domain I do not control.
Turning it off
Blocking cookies for this site in your browser stops it. So does any content blocker, and so does Google's own opt-out add-on. Nothing on this site breaks if you do — there is no feature here that depends on being measured.
I do not see anything about you as an individual in any case — the reports show totals, not visitors. And the tag never loads while I am logged in, so my own reading is not in the numbers either.
What does happen
- Server logs. Like every website, the host records the requests it serves — IP address, time, page, browser string. That is the web working, not a choice I made, and I do not analyse those logs.
- Search. The search box passes your term in the URL so the page can answer it. Nothing is stored and nothing is sent anywhere.
- Email. If you write to me, I have your message and your address, because that is what email is. I keep it, I reply to it, and I do not add it to a mailing list.
- Emoji. WordPress can fetch an emoji image from s.w.org if your browser cannot draw one itself. Modern browsers draw their own, so in practice this does not fire — but it is the only request this site could make to a third party, so it is listed rather than glossed over.
Asking me about it
There is no account to delete and no profile to request, but if you want to ask about any of this, write to admin@iamsajidansari.com.
